Providing Comfort to Children When They Need It Most
What is the Lovies for Littles Program?
The Lovies for Littles Program was created to bring comfort to children who have been removed from unsafe environments due to abuse, neglect, or crisis situations.
Through this program, the Evelynne Aimee Foundation provides children with a soft teddy bear wearing our foundation logo, along with small comfort items that remind them they are safe, supported, and cared for.
For many children entering foster care, shelters, or advocacy programs, these moments can be frightening and confusing. A small comfort item like a teddy bear can provide emotional grounding during an incredibly difficult time.
Each Lovies for Littles Package includes:
• A teddy bear wearing the Evelynne Aimee Foundation logo shirt
• An “I Am a Survivor” bracelet
These items are intended to provide a sense of warmth, safety, and reassurance during times of uncertainty.
Why Comfort Items Matter
Research has shown that comfort objects—such as stuffed animals—can play an important role in helping children cope with trauma and stress.
As psychologist Rose M. Barlow explains: “Animals, live or stuffed, can aid therapy for both children and adults by providing a way to experience and express emotions, a feeling of unconditional support, and grounding.”
While therapy animals can offer tremendous emotional benefits, they are not always accessible to children in crisis environments.
Stuffed animals can serve as a safe and comforting substitute, helping children process emotions and regain a sense of security.
For children who have experienced trauma or disrupted attachment relationships, these comfort items can provide a small but meaningful step toward healing.
Who Receives Lovies?
Lovies for Littles are provided to organizations that support children who have experienced abuse or crisis situations, including:
• Foster care agencies
• Domestic violence shelters
• Child advocacy centers
• Emergency placement homes
• Family crisis centers
• Residential treatment programs for children
• Child protective services support organizations
By partnering with these organizations, we ensure that Lovies are placed directly into the hands of children who need them most.
Request Lovies for your Organization!
Organizations that serve children affected by abuse, neglect, or crisis situations may request Lovies through our program. To apply, please complete the application with details about your facility, the number of Lovies requested, and how they will be distributed.
