Lovies for Littles

What's this Program about?

The Lovies for Littles Program is about bringing comfort to abused children in our area. The cost for us to provide the children with a customized Logo Teddy Bear, Fleece Blanket and "I am a Survivor" bracelet is $25.00 - You also receive a bracelet stating "I sponsored a Survivor"

Animals represent an unconditional source of love and acceptance for those who may have suffered early life trauma, especially trauma or abuse that undermines attachment relationships.

"Animals, live or stuffed, can aid therapy for both children and adults by providing a way to experience and express emotions, a feeling of unconditional support and grounding." ~Rose M. Barlow, Psychologist

Although animals, as therapy or as pets, can help reduce anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation; owning or working with an animal isn't always feasible. Therefore, stuffed animals, which represent a source of comfort in times of stress for young people, may serve as a suitable replacement to a live animal.

Symptoms of dissociation can begin in childhood and result in emotionally unavailable parents, divorce, or a continuation of the abuse cycle. Therefore, integrating stuffed animals into therapy for young children can provide a sense of security and help rebuild impaired attachment bonds working toward the end of the generational cycle of abuse.
